About a week ago I attended the Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns event event at Los Angeles Convention Center. I had seen ads for it previous years and always thought it looked like a neat event. However, I was never so compelled as to actually attend. Thankfully the We Are LA Tech experience club planned on attending. As I am part of the club, I decided this was finally my chance to attend. Prior to the event, we were given a tour of a new co-working space called CTRL Collective. While on the tour, wine was poured, and a lovely guided tour of the modern and spacious location was given.

Teslooping and Wine

Wine is one of my favorite adult beverages. Being that I knew we were taking the Tesloop over to the convention, I indulged in the wine. Let me say, wandering around the parking garage of the Convention Center looking at pumpkins while inebriated was fine and dandy! Not to say that the pumpkins weren’t interesting in their own right. They were absolutely amazing and creative, however, it was all the more enjoyable while buzzed.

All ages of people were in attendance. The garage was buzzing with chatter. I even took it upon myself to shout out the names of characters I saw. I did mention I drank before this right?? I’m sure it was thrilling for those around me to when I shouted ‘IRON MAN!!’ or ‘DARTH VADER!’ But heck, I was entertaining to myself, if not anyone else.

My favorite design, and the one I saw on most advertisements this year, was the dragon! It was an incredible arrangement of pumpkins to create a Chinese dragon.  It was so big it was hard to fit into one photo! I can’t even image how long it took to carve the pumpkins for just the dragon, not to mention the thousands of others in the event.

I would recommend this for Halloween lovers young and old. And those older ones, maybe even have a glass before you go. Enjoy it, and relax!
