Miss the deadline to get your special someone the right Valentine’s Day present? Flowers already gone? Chocolates all devoured? Rekindle that romance with the festivities of the Richmond Comicon – a full day of comic book events, games and festivities held at the world-famous Richmond International Raceway.

Comicon Guests:

For the first time ever, the conference will take place in the TORQUE Club, a 15,000 square foot executive club suite that overlooks the super sized NASCAR speedway. The spacious location will host almost 100 tables of rare comics, toys, collectibles and artists, including the 501st Garrison Star Wars Cosplay group, The Hungry Nerd, James Mascia (High-School Heroes) and  Frank Lester (BadBoy video).

The Big Con Panel:

The schedule includes some interesting content, including The Big Con Panel. The panelists are popular local convention promoters, including representatives from Tidewater Comicon, FredCon, The VA Comicon and others. Sneak peeks into these 2017 events will be shown to attendees.

The conference will feature the first ever Richmond Comicon Quickdraw competition. In this event, a selection of the fiercest illustrators in a battle against the clock to produce the most entertaining artwork LIVE in front of a crowd with full audience participation. These hand-picked artists will face 5, 3, and 1 minute rounds to challenge their creativity.

Trivia Contest:

Triviageddon will make its return. The trivia contest is hosted by Dan Nokes, the artist liaison for Richmond Comicon. Dan and 21st Sandshark Studios produce Impossible Space Tales of the Last Pit Stop and The Reptile and Mister Amazing: The Return of Kat Carson, and Adam and Eve: Bizarre Love Triangle in the Zombie Apocalypse.

For those who would prefer cosplay to trivia, cosplay experts Cameron King and Chris Mahone will offer up a panel on Cosplay 101. These pros will cover everything from choosing the first cosplay costume to fabricating details of the costumes.

Star Wars Bar Fight:

In the evening, members of the Role With Us podcast will play out an alternate version of events in the Mos Eisley Cantina in the session titled “Star Wars – Bar Fight!” Brian Beecroft (Type B Comics), Keir Lyles (Apocrypha Studios), and Chris Otto (A Dog’s Life comic) will host this version of scum and villainy.

The show will close with a costume contest. Categories include:

  1. Best Kid’s Costume (Age 0-12)
  2. Best Adult Costume (Age 13+)
  3. Best Group Costume (All Ages)

Tickets are still available for $15. Kids up to 10 years old get in for free.
